The big news coming out of the Canadian International Auto Show for 2010 is that the CX-7 is getting a new 2.5-liter normally-aspirated four-cylinder model (the same engine is employed in the 2010 Mazda6 and Mazda3).

The big news coming out of the Canadian International Auto Show for 2010 is that the CX-7 is getting a new 2.5-liter normally-aspirated four-cylinder model (the same engine is employed in the 2010 Mazda6 and Mazda3). So-equipped, the CX-7 generates 161 horsepower (at 6000 rpm) and maximum torque of 161 pound-feet of torque (at 3500 rpm). The turbocharged, 244-horsepower 2.3-liter engine remains unchanged. Further details like fuel-economy, price, and trim specification for this model will be revealed “at a later date,” and in fact there is no official confirmation that the normally-aspirated inline-four will come to America, although it would be hard to imagine Mazda not doing so.

For 2010, Mazda’s performance-minded SUV gets a makeover inside and out. The changes add up to a great value equation — the CX-7 is a great family SUV with cool styling and a sporty driving experience.

Test drivers find the 2010 Mazda CX-7 continues to offer deliciously sporty performance, especially for an SUV. Though reviewers heavily criticized the previous model’s fuel economy, a new normally aspirated engine for 2010 offers a more efficient option. “Cruising down the coast, we felt — if only for a moment — that there might be something to Mazda’s claim of ‘the soul of a sports car,’” says CNET. “The CX-7 has the heart. Mazda’s crossover certainly feels sporty in the power and the handling departments, as long as you don’t push it too hard.”

Initially referred to as the Cadillac BRX, the SUV will use the SRX name globally, execs tell us. GM offered a sneak peak of the five-passenger SUV at Pebble Beach, with promises it will debut on the auto show circuit later this year. The final product stays relatively true to the Cadillac Provoq concept we first saw at the 2008 North American International Auto Show.

The SRX is Cadillac’s entry in the competitive mid-size luxury SUV market that includes competitors such as the Lexus RX350, BMW X5 and Mercedes ML-Class. First introduced in 2004, the SRX was completely redesigned for the 2010 model year onward.

This high-riding duo are the first M machines ever to be equipped with all-wheel drive. The first fitted exclusively with an automatic transmission.

The X6 M is a high-performance variant of BMW’s controversial head-turning crossover. Unveiled at the New York Auto Show in 2009, the X6 M uses a potent version of BMW’s twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8. Output is pegged at 555 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and peak torque is 501 pound-feet, available between 1,500 and 5,650 rpm. The car can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, according to the automaker.

Pros:

* Ferocious power
* Dynamic BMW handling
* Merino leather seats cradle the passengers in luxurious comfort
* Appeals to a niche market

Cons:

* Barely acceptable rear cargo space
* Limited view looking back through hatchback window
* Head-up display is marginally useful

Mercedes Benz CLS Wagon is the second-generation CLS sedan lunch early 2010, the CLS car to compete with the BMW 5 Series GT and the forthcoming Audi A7.
The CLS Wagon to go on sale in North America in early 2010, the code is called the x218, CLS car will premiere at the Paris motor show in September 2010. This production starts in early 2012.

The E-Tron concepts in Detroit:

- Have two electric motors each driving one rear wheel.

- The combined production is 204 hp and a claimed 1955 pounds – ft of torque, which is like 300 to 400 lb-ft of real life.

- It takes Audi LED headlights a bit further by adding an automatic system that adapts to changing weather conditions using a camera-computer;

- Light can also change the shape of the beam for maximum visibility.

- As seen on the A8 in 2011, the lighting system uses the database to enable navigation lights turn when the car anticipates that you will change direction.

- This e-Tron can use a phone as an address database, navigation system and video player. It also has the ability to accept remote commands from a phone, including the adaptation of the sound system or transmitting routes for travel. The car can also talk back to a designated telephone, communication of safety information or the completion of (or need more) pricing attached to a charging station.

Both engines on the show car can operate independently make the most of the agility of available traction during aggressive driving with guidance system.

Features: It also has a brake-by-Wire “and as the first e-tron, a special generator that allows the regeneration of braking energy.

Specifications: – The lithium-ion batteries weigh 880 pounds, located just opposite the rear axle, and weigh a total of 2976 pounds, or about 200 more than similarly sized Tesla Roadster.

- Audi claims a division 40/60 and a weight of 0 to 62 mph, a time of 5.9 seconds. Top speed is limited to 124 mph.

- By comparison, the Tesla is much faster have clocked version of the sport to 60 mph in four seconds flat, while its top speed is 122 mph. The E-Tron Detroit would have a range of 155 miles on a full charge, which takes 11 hours with a current of 230 volts or just two hours if you can find a special 400-volt charging station.

The Aston Martin Rapide is a four-door, high-performance sport saloon, which British luxury marque Aston Martin plans to introduce in early 2010 to compete with the Maserati Quattroporte and Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, along with the upcoming Audi A7, Porsche Panamera, and Lamborghini Estoque. It was first presented as a concept car at the North American International Auto Show in 2006. The Rapide name is a reference to the Lagonda Rapide, a saloon car produced by Lagonda, now part of Aston Martin. The car is based on an Aston Martin DB9. The estimated price for the Rapide is around $260,000 US Dollars, although it is too soon to predict its price on the US market, the Rapide should be in full production in the US by Late 2010-early 2011.

* Estimated Unit Price: $260,000 (USD)
* Engine: 6.0 L V12
* Power: 470 bhp (350 kW; 477 PS)
* 0-100 km/h (62 mph): 5.1 seconds

The Rapide is serious about the business of driving, a chassis that is equally at home amongst winding back roads, mountain passes or high-speed carriageways. It has the expertise to devour trans-continental distances while leaving the driver feeling fresh and alert, however far or fast. The rich exhaust note is intended to be heard echoing off the sheer rock walls of the Alps, the steering demands to be taken to the switchbacks of Austria’s Grossglockner Pass, while the engine begs to be opened up along a stretch of German Autobahn. Although the power delivery is unrelenting, this is also a car designed for every day use, with ample space for a golfing weekend for three in Scotland, a lengthy trans-American journey or even a trip to a Bordeaux vineyard, with space to bring back 20 bottles of wine. You can sweep up to a hotel, restaurant or première and the four doors allow your passengers to enter and exit with style.

An Aston Martin is about elegance, power and innovation, a bespoke form constructed to high standards that provide the model definition of 21st century design and engineering execution.

The Rapide is a seminal evocation of Aston Martin’s recent history, proof positive that the high performance four-door automobile need not imitate the conservative three-box saloon; it can be a car of extreme elegance and beauty. A sporting coupé with real heritage, the Rapide is a practical choice that expresses the pure emotion and passion that underpins the Aston Martin marque, its rich heritage and design DNA.

Aston Martin begins the 21st century with almost limitless potential. As one of the strongest and most recognisable brands in automotive history, the company now has the products, technology, production facilities and distribution network to offer unparalleled choice in this market segment, able to move rapidly from prototyping to concept to production. The company’s fast-expanding global dealership network continues to revolutionise the high-performance sales environment, with a series of crisp, contemporary showrooms that highlight the very best in modern architecture and design, making them the perfect backdrop for the product.

The Nagare (pronounced “na-ga-re”) is a concept car that was introduced by Mazda at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Nagare is considered to be an exercise in natural and organic car design to explore the future of Mazda automobiles. Its name “Nagare” translates into English as “flow” and the designers specifically studied motion and the effect it has on natural surroundings when creating this vehicle.

It was designed by Laurens van den Acker, Mazda’s global design director, and his advanced design studio team in Irvine, California. As head of the international Nagare design team, Laurens’ main task from Mazda was to design first and engineering later.

Engine

Powertrain details are largely speculated at this time. Mazda has not release information on the specifics of the engine and performance because they want to focus on the design elements of the car. Some believe that the Nagare could be equipped with a future Mazda hydrogen-fueled rotary engine.

Mazda is maintaining the soul of a sports car, like all their products, with the design of the Nagare. The body work is not only form but functional in decreasing wind drag. The wheels of the Nagare are also positioned at the far corners of the envelope for quick steering response and agile maneuverability.
